The Festival’s signature opening-night gala returns with its epoch-spanning celebration of singing and song. The list of past guests stretches from Boy George, Kurt Elling and Sheila Jordan to Gregory Porter, Paloma Faith and Patti Austin. 

Arranged, scored and conducted by Guy Barker, this year’s extravaganza includes Dee Dee Bridgewater, Emma SmithGeorgie Fame, Jacqui Dankworth, Jacob Banks, Kurt Elling, Natalie Williams, Sachal and Vula Malinga, alongside a fantastic 40-piece orchestra. The evening is hosted by award-winning broadcaster and singer Jumoké Fashola and inimitable jazz vocalist, producer and broadcaster Ian Shaw.

Two songs from the show’s repertoire are dedicated to the PRS for Music’s centenary celebrations. This concert will be broadcast on BBC Radio 3 and streamed live online by BBC Arts.
