Terence Blanchard’s E-Collective + Jacob Collier

LONDON Barbican
Silk Street
London
EC2Y 8DS

Moving into a thoroughly contemporary zone of groove and fusion, Terence Blanchard’s new project is positively teeming with an exhilarating blend of fiery solo statements and the colours of funk, R&B and soul.

'A trumpeter of expressive urgency and a composer of expansive vision.' (The New York Times)

With a brand new Blue Note album, Breathless, the massively influential trumpeter and composer brings together yet another band that’s packed with talented young players, this is the latest stage in a career that’s travelled far from the days when he burst onto the scene with Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers, taking major film scores, award-winning recordings and a landmark jazz opera along the way.

'A brass-wielding force of nature.' (Los Angeles Times)

Donald Ramsey (bass), Oscar Seaton (drums), Charles Altura (guitar), Fabian Almazan (keyboard, piano & synths)

Opening the show, prodigiously talented young Londoner Jacob Collier makes his UK concert hall debut with a show hailed as revolutionary and musically brilliant in equal measure.

Famed for his intricate and feel-good YouTube arrangements, Jacob takes to the stage to recreate and animate his mind-boggling multi-instrumental wizardry with a live looping video relay quite unlike anything you’ve ever seen. It will be spectacular, it will be inspiring and it will put ‘a massive grin on your face’ (Jazzwise).

Having been invited to open for Chick Corea and Herbie Hancock earlier this year you can guarantee the quality of this rising star. See him first, tell your friends and watch as an artist begins on the trail of an extraordinary career.

‘I have never in my life seen a talent like this’ (Quincy Jones)
‘The arrival of jazz music’s new messiah’ (***** The Guardian)
'A star has risen' (Jamie Cullum)

Part of the EFG Excellence Series.
